Colchester United FCCUCST Apprenticeship in Activity Leadership 2010
Unfortunately this course will not run this year.
Due to changes in the Apprenticeship Framework from 2010 it looks unlikely that we be able to offer the same programme as we have for the last two years.
However, we are committed to providing an educational opportunity for 16 – 19 year olds and consequently are delighted to be able to announce a new course that we will run in partnership with Otley College from September 2010:
Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport
The BTEC will be open to twelve students aged 16 – 18 years old (at the 1st September 2010). It will be a one-year course based at the CUCST delivery site in Shrub End for 3 days and on the Otley College site for one day (transport will be provided). The course will comprise 13 hours per week on the BTEC, 1 hour per week FA Level 1, 1 hour per week CSLA, 1 hour per week functional skills and 3 hours per week enrichment activities.
CUCST staff will be responsible for the delivery of the BTEC and FA Level 1
The BTEC is a 60 credit qualification made up from a selection of mandatory units:
- Fitness testing & training
- Practical sport
- Anatomy & physiology
- Injury in sport
- Planning & leading sports activity
- Work experience in the sports industry
- Planning and running a sports event
There will be opportunities for work experience with CUCST throughout the course.
A minimum of 2 grade Ds at GCSE will be required.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a recruitment day at the Shrub End Community & Sports Centre at Boadicea Way, Shrub End on the8th July 2010 from 9.30 – 3.30 which will include a tour of the facilities, further course information, a practical session, some form filling & basic skills tests plus a formal interview.
