Term Time Activities

Soccer Starters is for children aged four or in reception / school years 1 or 2. It offers football coaching for the youngest players in two age groups. The course teaches and improves basic football techniques with each half-term focusing on a different basic skill such as dribbling and passing. Each session includes skills coaching, fun games to reinforce and practise the coaching points and small-sided games to give players a basic understanding of the rules of football and to develop their spatial awareness.

Soccer Kids is for children in school years 3 and 4, 5 and 6. Again coaching is split into two age groups, providing progression from Soccer Starters. The course reinforces the basic football skills, develops intermediate techniques and encourages team play and tactics. Each half-term focuses on a specific footballing technique. Each session starts with a ball mastery warm up, enabling children to re-visit and practise basic football skills, refine techniques and build confidence. I heard about the group at the 50+ exhibition at Charter Hall where I picked up a leaflet. It's nice to get together on a Monday morning and meet new people. My husband and I are both Colchester United supporters too. I would miss it if it had to stop as we really enjoy having a go at the activities. The keep fit has been really good and we have found out about lots of things we didn't know about like the free health walks that take place in Colchester.
