Playing with Words

For the past two years, three local primary schools have been benefiting from the support of the National Literacy Trust, Colchester United Community Sports Trust (CUCST) and a Colchester United Reading Champion to encourage classes to read 100 books per term.

The project is launched annually with a visit to the school by a CUCST coach who sets the reading challenge for the class.

Children complete reading challenges in a personal journal while striving to meet the team target.

Rewards are given for success including stadium visits, coaching sessions or even a visit from the Colchester United Reading Champion.

I just wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic day yesterday. The children really enjoyed their football skills/tournaments and we were all extremly impressed with Phil and Wayne (they were the stars of the day !).
