Soccer Fun
Beautiful sunshine provided the perfect backdrop for a week long festival of football as up to 200 boys and girls aged 4-14 years old brushed up on their soccer skills. The Sports Trust annual football events are the biggest, most popular camps of the year and give the children the perfect opportunity to learn new skills, take part in exciting challenges and play ‘Champions League’ football matches. Soccer Camp Director, Dmitri Halajko, was glad of the welcome break from the rain and his staff of 20coaches gave the budding youngsters the opportunity to practise a whole range of different football skills, Dmitri commented on the week’s events, saying:
After a great morning of skills and drills it was a special moment for all as they met with the players from Colchester United and one lucky boy, Luke Bloom aged 5 was absolutely thrilled with his first day at the camp. “I met Dean Gerken and Teddy Sheringham and they signed my football and autograph book. It was really exciting and I can’t wait to come back again.” The week will end with a big presentation on Friday where every child will receive a certificate, medals and trophies for the winners of the ‘Champions League’ and skills challenges. There will also be special honours for the ‘Players of the Week’. Every child was also given a free Puma football and special ‘Soccer Camp’ t-shirt. There is another camp set to run at the end of the month now with just a few places left, so for more information on this click the link below - to download a form and make your booking! or telephone 01206 572378.
