Family Health Programmes
Healthy Together
Families now have the opportunity to get Healthy Together thanks to a fun, supportive and enjoyable programme which is completely free of charge.
The eight week programme is run by Colchester United Community Sports Trust and is aimed at families with children aged 4 to 7-years-old who want to:
- improve their health and wellbeing
- increase physical activity levels
- develop cooking skills and confidence
- increase their knowledge around healthy eating
- improve their relationships
It gives both adults and children the chance to get active, learn about healthy eating and develop a happy and healthy family lifestyle.
The sessions take place on Wednesdays from 5pm to 7pm at Shrub End Community and Sports Centre.

Healthy Together Roadshows
The Healthy Together Roadshow at the Weston Homes Community Stadium is a free event for local school children, families and residents. The event is designed to provide a fun opportunity for local people to take part in activities, find out about local opportunities and to help them make positive lifestyle changes.
Services/ activities include:
- Health assessments i.e. blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes checks and BMI
- Fitness assessments - back strength, flexibility, fitness
- Venda Blenda – make a smoothie and get active at the same time!
- Information stands on physical activity, healthy eating, parenting, childrens centre, drugs and alcohol, smoking cessation
- Physical activity taster sessions
- Tour of the stadium
- Food tasting and healthy snacks prepared by participants
- Local produce and complementary therapy services
- Local support agencies and services
- Prize draw and quiz
- Education programmes taster sessions
- Arts and crafts activities.
The next Healthy Together Roadshow will take place at our annual Community Open Day on Sunday 4 July 2010 at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, United Way, Colchester.
