Good shot in the Wayne Rooney challenge

Fun Morning of Football

 24th July 2005

Sean Hillier and Eddie the Eagle making sure the children are having funOver 40 children enjoyed a coaching morning of free football skills at a special Soccer Camp experience held at the Clacton Leisure Centre on Saturday.  The Soccer Camp Road Show gave 4-6 year olds the opportunity to take part in a variety of exciting football challenges, meet U's mascot Eddie the Eagle, and compete in small sided games.

Penalty Shoot Out against Eddie the Eagle

The morning's activities were divided into five areas with each budding footballer put into groups before they headed off to try out the soccer skills challenges.  A penalty shoot out against Eddie the Eagle, who had flown in especially from Layer Road proved popular.  Each child fired in shots from the penalty spot, while the others tried out a few  football chants to try and put the big bird off.

Easy! Easy! Children cheer on their team mates

The 'David Beckham', 'Wayne Rooney' and 'Michael Owen' challenges saw the children try out some shooting dribbling and passing skills followed by a quick break before the big football tournament to finish off the morning.

Lets all do the congo, children head off to the next challenge in style

Amongst lots of cheering and chanting every child had the chance to try all of the activities and then put their new skills to the test in a mini tournament.  Sean Hillier, head coach was pleased with the fun morning;

Youngsters take a quick break in the goal "The whole morning was about having fun and for some of the children it's the first time they have taken part in a Soccer Camp activity.  They have learnt new skills, made some new friends and enjoyed themselves immensely."

Children line up to show off their prizes and certificates

At the end of two hours of great football fun it was presentation time with every child receiving a certificate for taking part and Eddie the Eagle handing out a free Soccer Camp keyring gift.

We hope to see some of you again!!
