A Bit About Us...

The "Football in the Community" project at Colchester United was established in 1993 before becoming known as the Colchester United Community Sports Trust after a bid to become a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity was successful in 2001.  As the Trust evolved towards charitable status a set of aims and objectives were established targeting the promotion of opportunities for those people who may be excluded from mainstream sport (particularly football).  This statement of intent offered a vision of working in partnership with communities, and improving the quality of life for individuals and neighbourhoods.

As the Trust expanded it's football provision across north and central Essex it has focussed on enhancing the life chances of both individuals and neighbourhoods.  The Trust works closely with partners to offer an inclusive and diverse range of sporting and social opportunities, which has benefited over thirty thousand young people.  The Trust currently employs 16 full time staff, 25 part-time staff and twelve volunteers as a company limited by guarantee.

By adapting our ongoing vision, aims and objectives, setting clear targets and implementing sustainable beneficial projects backed by local communities, strong partnerships with local government agencies and business partners were established and the Trust consistently promotes, supports and delivers the Government’s agenda on health, education and the sporting well-being of young people.
