Trust launches mini bus appeal
An appeal has been launched with benevolent local businesses to raise funds for a new minibus for Colchester United Community Sports Trust (CUCST).
Each week thousands of children and adults benefit from activities organised by the Trust, from the Playing for Success education programme to the new Extra Time club for over 60s.
Providing transport for schools and groups to get to these activities is essential, to ensure everyone has the opportunity to take part.
With the lease set to run out on the Trust’s existing bus in the next few months, a minibus appeal has been launched to raise £40,000.
This would allow the Trust to invest in a new minibus, and also buy the existing bus from the lease company, providing even greater potential to involve the community of Colchester and beyond in activities.
Jeanette East, CUCST Education Manager, said: “Every day we help hundreds of people in Colchester and the surrounding area to achieve their full potential.
“Having a minibus makes a real difference to our work as there are lots of schools and groups who would not be able to join in our activities without it.
“As a charity, we don’t have the funding to buy the minibus ourselves, so we are asking Colchester businesses and organisations to help us and show their support for our work.
“If we are lucky enough to raise enough money for the second bus it will mean we can give even more people the chance to benefit from the work we do, changing lives and communities through sport.”
The lease on the Trust’s existing minibus runs out in May.
All donations will be very gratefully received, with two sponsorship packages available to encourage businesses and organisations to support the appeal. Those who donate £100 or more will receive a pair of tickets for a Colchester United home game plus a tour of the stadium, while those who donate £1,000 or more will have their names featured on the side of the minibus.
