Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC)

More about Apple. In September 2008 the Colchester Apple Regional Training Centre (RTC) was launched in EdUc@eUtd at the WHCS. One of only a handful of RTCs based in Football League Clubs around the country, our RTC has a fleet of 15 iMac desktops and 6 Macbook laptops which all include the latest software available from Apple plus associated digital paraphanelia associated with creative media.

During last academic year a series of nine insets took place enlightening staff from schools in the Colchester area into the wonders of Apple Technologies. The nine sessions focused on the various applications available in the iLife 09 suite and culminated with the creation of a final project in session 9. In addition, over 1,000 adults & children passed through the RTC doors through a combination of all our learning projects & community events.

The RTC is really looking to evolve and take shape next academic year, beginning to offer more to a wider range of schools and educational organisations. During each term schools will have the opportunity to send 5 pupils plus 1 member of teaching staff to the RTC to take part in 3 induction sessions. These will be designed to use iLife 09 software to unleash innovation and creativity in the classroom. Each of the three schools will be given a loan Macbook to take back to school to continue their work in creating a cross curricular project of their choice utilising iLife software.

The year will climax with a showcase of all of the work created on our Apple technology at a planned 'Eddies' Awards Ceremony (the CUFC version of the Oscars), a red carpet event not to be missed ...

I heard about the group at the 50+ exhibition at Charter Hall where I picked up a leaflet. It's nice to get together on a Monday morning and meet new people. My husband and I are both Colchester United supporters too. I would miss it if it had to stop as we really enjoy having a go at the activities. The keep fit has been really good and we have found out about lots of things we didn't know about like the free health walks that take place in Colchester.
