ACP Elite (Thurstable) Vs Hills Road
September 16th 2009
The match began well for Thurstable with two early shots from Billy Wales and Tom Holdstock going wide. After a lot of battling in the midfield the ball was well finished by Billy Wales to put Thurstable 1- 0 up.
After the goal Hills Road began to up their game and with that they finished a well-worked move from the edge of the six yard box.
The second half, Thurstable began extremely well with Ben Houlding firing in an excellent effort from outside the box to make it 2-1. Moments later Lee Monk fired a belting free kick at goal that the goalkeeper fumbled as far as Danny Johnson who finished expertly. 3-1.
After that, Thurstable stepped off the gas allowing Hills Road to score again, with a good shot from the edge of the penalty area.
A fine defensive performance from Tom Clark, Danny Johnson, Lee Monk and Zach Surguy kept Hills Road out.
Thanks to the three year 11 students, Stuart Little, Ricky Spriggs and Tom Holdstock who strengthened our squad, and due to the good defensive performance, goalkeeper Ben Elmer was fairly troubled.
