ACP Elite (Thurstable) Vs Easton College

The game was able to be played thanks to the boys who showed great commitment getting rid of the ice and snow the night before.
The game begun with Thurstable showing no signs of a long winter break taking all the early possession and creating half chances.
Once the game was settled Thurstable pilled on the pressure with Danny Johnson coming close striking the bar from a close range effort. Again, the woodwork prevented Thurstable from scoring with George Coles’s volley, again rebounding the wrong side of the bar. Thurstable did not seem to have any problems at the back, catching the Easton forwards offside a number of times until a break through led to Easton themselves being prevented from the post.
The woodwork proved sturdy once more, when Billy Wales effort was saved by the post. It looked like one of those days for Thurstable.
Up stepped Josh Leavett, rising above everybody to claim a cool headed finish from a corner delivered from Ryan Henshaw, giving Thurstable a deserved lead going into the second half.
The second half was much like the first, with Thurstable claiming much possession. Again, up stepped Josh Leavett to claim his second headed goal of the game and put Thurstable in a comfortable position for the rest of the game.
Injuries to Danny Johnson, George Cole and Luigi Webster meant Thurstable switched around the defence, leading to Easton bringing the game back to 2-1 with 5 minutes to go. Thurstable hung on comfortable giving them their 5th success.
Result: Thurstable 2 Easton College 1
A great start to 2010 for Thurstable College.
