ACP Elite (Thurstable) Vs Easton College

Thurstable travelled away to Norfolk today, after the disappointment of being knocked out of the Cup. They were hoping to bounce back and concentrate on their league performance.
The game started scrappy with neither team really stringing alot of passes together. It took the best part of 10 minutes until Thurstable started to show some shape and put together some attacking plays. The midfield looked like they have started to bond together and were managing to create chances for themselves and the strikers.
Thurstable were enjoying the majority of possession early on with Easton primarily looking for the long ball when they had the chance. Thurstable's defence mopped up everything Easton threw at them, maturely dealing with balls put in behind them. Easton didn't show much of an attacking threat until their striker turned and struck from 30 yards, with the ball going whiskers wide of the top corner. From this moment Thurstable knew they had a game on there hands and couldn't get complacent. Thurstable thought they had taken the lead just before half time when Ryan Henshaw netted from a free-kick, but the goal was controversially disallowed. The teams walked off at half time in a goalless deadlock, with Thurstable frustrated that they hadn't converted their chances.
Thurstable continued to press for an opener at the beginning of the second half, with Lee Monk hitting a driven free-kick from long distance that forced the goalkeeper to parry, but the Easton defenders managed to block the following shot from close range. Just as they were beginning to think nothing was going to go in for them, Thurstable took the lead after another free-kick, with Ryan Henshaw finding the head of Josh Leavett, who tucked it home to make it 1-0. Easton had some decent players, and Thustable had to stay on their toes to make sure they didnt allow them to create anything and hold on to their lead. However, with a first clean sheet for Ben Elmer, Thurstable managed to secure the 3 points and maintain their 100% record in the league.
